Residence of Douglas Ellington

Return to Home

This is Douglas Ellington's home when he lived in Asheville, North Carolina.  Douglas Ellington's home is made from leftover material from S&W Cafeteria, Asheville High School, and Ashville City Building.  Georgia Pink marble from City Hall was used in the floor, tile samples from the S&W Cafeteria were used in the floor, and the leftover granite from the High school  was used for the fireplace  in the great hall.  The brick of the kitchen is the same as the face brick of the lower levels of  the City Building.

The design of Mr. Ellington's home is very different from the buildings he designed in the Art Deco/ Romantic style.
