The chimes of the City Building

    The City Building has chimes that play for the City of Asheville.  There are a total of 10 chimes located in the top of the City Building. There were supposed to be 25 chimes in all but enough money was not raised originally to purchase the complete set.  The money for the original chimes was raised from 1928-1932  by the children of Asheville and Buncombe County.  The chimes were recently restored with money raised in 1997-1998 by the children of Asheville and Buncombe County.
