    Asheville, North Carolina is located in the Western North Carolina in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  Asheville is the county seat of  Buncombe County and the biggest city in Western North Carolina.  Asheville is known for its mild year-round climate.  Asheville's population in 1999 was 68,294.
