Holi is a day when you throw colored dyes, water balloons filled with colored water, and dry colors at your friends and family. No one is spared. The elderly and even babies participate in Holi. They walk around in the streets banging on tin drums, squirting colored dye everywhere.
Holi starts in the night with a big bonfire, with all the leaves and branches that were left from the winter being burned. This clears winter things and makes way for spring. The heat of the fire reminds people that winter's cold days are gone and summer's hot days are ahead.
