German Foods

 Marketplace

Germans basically treasure food as gold. They eat foods in large amounts with lunch being the heaviest meal and most important, and dinner being the lightest meal. Germany is known for its large quantities of sausage, especially Brautwourst.

The meal in the morning usually consists of bread, cheese, rolls, jam, and butter. It is eaten before children go to school and before parents go to work.

Lunch is the main meal of the day. It is normally eaten between the hours of 12:00 and 1:00. This meal consists of meat, normally pork or beef, followed by veal. There are always vegetables on the table such as beets, onions, cabbage, turnips, and carrots. Germans are a big fan of fish.

The evening meal consists of bread, cheese, and sausage. Dinner is the lightest meal of the day.

Eating out is much more popular now than it has been in the past. There are many more restaurants these days because of that.
