"Traditional rug hooking is done with small strips of
wool fabric, pulled up into loops on the front side of the
backing fabric. The work is done with a small hook, much
like a crochet hook only shorter and with a stout handle.
Latch hooking is made of short strips of yarn knotted around
a mesh backing fabric. This type of work is done with a
small hook too but the hook also has a latch to catch the
yarn during the knotting process." --Janet Brandt The image on the right is from the invitation to a
show of Janet Brandt's work in
Zionsville, Indiana.
