Hurricane Facts

-Hurricanes are massive winds blowing aorund and around a low-pressure center, known as the eye.

- Since 1943 the United States military aircraft has flopwn into hurricanes to measure wind directiones,the size and location of the eye, the thermal makeup, and pressures with the storm.

- Horrible, nasty hurricanes in recent United States history, a few are Hugo in 1989 with more than $4 billion in damage and over 50 deaths. Another is Anges in 1972 , with $3 billion in damage and about 134 deaths. The last I will talke about is A hurricane that happened in 1992 called Andrew with estimated to $12 billion in damage, and it had approximatly 50 deaths along with thousands of people left homeless.

- The strongest hurricane hit the Western Hemisphere in the 20th century. It was hurricane Gilbert. Hurricane Gilbert pretty much wiped out Jamaica and got a chance to destroy a part of mexico. This occured in 1988 with winds that blasted up to 350 km/hr or 218 mph.
