Parasaurolophus was a grested duck-billed dinosaur. Its crest, sometimes 6 feet long, curved back over its head. Breathing tubes went from this dinosaur's nostrils up to its crest, then back into its mouth. This would have given the dinosaur a very good sense of smell. Some scientists think that the tubes in the crest would have allowed Parasaurolophus to make a low bellowing sound to communicate with others of its kind.

This large dinosaur (30 feet long, 3 tons) was a peaceful plant eater that lived near water. It may have taken to the water to escape large meat-eating dinosaurs.
