George Washington

George Washington was the first president. He is known as father of his country. He is a very honored man. His face is everywhere; on Mt. Rushmore, the dollar bill, the quarter, in court buildings and more. It is the capital United States. Washington, the state, is named after him. In 1789 his was elected the first American president. He was 57 when he came into office. He took the oath in New York's capital. At that time it was the country capital at the time. In 1793 George retired from presidency. He ran again, but he said "no".  Then he moved back to his home town at Mt. Vernon. There he lived the rest of his live.
