The trumpet is a brass instrument. The sound comes from the vibration of the players lips against the mouth piece. The trumpet is in the family of the horn. The trumpet was made from a large conch shell. Silver and bronze trumpets evolved from ancient Egypt in the second millennium BC. They resembled many other old trumpets.  In the 1300s, inventors  came out with a newer trumpet called the Buisine.  By the 1400s the instrument became S shaped and then in about 1500 it was coiled into a loop.  Next in the 1800's It became very narrow. In 1820 valves were added to make the pitch lower.  The modern trumpet has three valves the notes are B flat, F sharp and middle C.  But those aren't the only notes the trumpet can play.  By changing the buzzing of the lips, the trumpet can play many different notes.  It has evolved many times in the past 2000 years.  It is one of the popular instruments for jazz groups.
