Israel is located in the Middle East near Jordan and Kuwait. It officialy became a state again on May 14th 1948. This new nation was created because of the U.N.'s plan. It lies on the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. The Jordan River runs through this land. Israel has many different enviorments, from cold areas to hot areas. It has deserts, mountains, and coastlines.

The Government of Israel is Democratic and is headed by the recently elected Ariel Sharon. The capital is Jerusalem. Its population is 5 million. 85% of those people are Jews. Israel covers approximately 8000 square miles. The Countries largest city is Tel Aviv. It's port is Haifa and it's political center is Jerusalem.
