When Bram Stoker was a kid, he was sick a lot. His mom told him stories that would later become the first bloodsucker stories. The first bloodsucker was called Lilitu, who liked babies' blood. The second bloodsucker was Lamiae, who was invented by Greeks 1000 years after Lilitu. She took out her eyes after having a tasty snack of blood. Next came Striges, by Romans. Striges, like Lilitu, sucked the blood of expectant mothers and babies who cried a lot. The first actual Vampire was Peter Plogojowitz. The word Dracula came from eastern Europe, like the word "vampire." Bram Stoker published the novel Dracula in 1897. |
