The Mysterious Lady
By:  Erika & Isabel

Authors Note:
To all you who sleep alone at night, BEWARE!

"I'll get the room to the left!" Mardon exclaimed. The Santos‚ had just moved in their new house.
"Aww, I wanted that one!" KC,  his younger sister, whined. Mardon just stuck his tongue out in triumph.
"You 2 stop it!" their mother bellowed.

Although Mardon did get the left room,  he was unaware of the peril that was sure to happen. The former resident,  who was touring them around their new home,  was mute and had gave them a sort of warning which was difficult to understand because she, the former resident, was mute. Her troubled look,  when they got to the left room (Mardon‚s room),  was alarming and puzzling. But Mardon and his family did not mind it at all,  unaware of how regretful they would be later on.

"Pass the peas,  please" Mardon jokingly asked KC and simultaneously patted her head in a brotherly fashion. As she passed the peas to him,  they heard a short moan of despair coming from upstairs.
"W-w-w-w-what was that?" KC stuttered fearfully. Their dad,  calm and collected,  just shrugged nonchalantly and replied: "Probably just some cats. It‚s a new house dear,  there must be gazillions stray cats wandering around."
"Why? Is the little baby scared of a little cat?" teased Mardon and started chuckling. Soon that chuckle transformed into a burst of laughter. KC frowned in displeasure. Mardon drank his final glass of water and hurriedly rushed up the stairs to his room to change and get ready for bed.

As soon as he had tucked himself into bed,  he heard footsteps outside of his room but he figured that it was just KC wandering around the new house.

He switched off the light but somehow he could not fall asleep because he kept sensing an eerie presence beside him. But after a few moments,  he closed his eyes and drifted into slumber.

Then something bizarre happened. A spooky lady,  fully clothed in white with long black silky hair,  suddenly appeared with her back turned to Mardon. He thought she was walking but after a closer glimpse,  he realized that she was actually floating in mid-air! Filled with curiosity,  he found himself following the lady wherever she went through,  what seemed like,  millions and millions of doors. Finally they got to a wall with a small lever on it. The woman giggled evilly,  with her back still turned against him,  and stretched out her arm. She gripped the lever,  slowly pulling it down. After that,  he found himself falling deeper and deeper and deeper and deeper and deeper and deeper to nowhere. All of a sudden,  he jerked up and realized it was all a dream. His face was filled with sweat and he was breathing heavily. With a deep sigh of relief,  he lay down again and shut his eyes for a moment. Thinking that it was all over,  he opened his eyes to get one quick glimpse of the room before he fell back into slumber. But that is not what he saw. When he opened his eyes,  he could not believe what he was seeing. A few feet above his face,  somebody‚s long black hair was suspended in the air. It was a woman dressed in white,  just like the apparition in his dream. He blinked once,  and he blinked twice but the floating lady ceased to disappear.

And with one last blink,  he was stunned to see that the lady was staring right back at him. Her eyes blood shot red,  her face was so grotesque, and her skin so pale. When he tried to scream,  nothing came out of his mouth. Without thinking,  he jumped out of his bed and searched room to room for his family. But shockingly,  they were all gone.
He realized that he was all alone. Trapped with a mysterious floating lady and without a voice. He slept in the broom closet for the night,  petrified and afraid, , , , , , , , , .

I dare not continue this frightful story for if I do finish it,  you will no longer be able to see the light of day again...
