Levi Strauss is awesome! He gave us blue jeans (in my opinion the most comfortable pants there are). Now read my page below. I hope it will at least give you some interesting information on him.

Levi Strauss was born in 1829 in a country called Bavaria (which is in Europe). He became an orphan when he was 16 years old. Poor guy!

He then went to live with his siblings in America. Levi sailed from his home in Bremenhaven to New York to be with his two older brothers, Jonas and Louis. They had already been successful in their tailoring and textile business.

He stayed for two days, then moved on to stay with his uncle on a ranch in Kentucky. He spent the next five years learning the language and heritage of America. He did this so he could one day take over his uncle's ranch. He had his own dreams, though. He wanted to be a successful business man all on his own. For a long time he walked up and down the streets selling pieces of cloth from his backpack.

Then he went to California to participate in panning for gold. He started to make blue jeans, and well, the rest is history! (If you want to learn more about his time in California and how he invented blue jeans, you can check out my "Blue Jeans" page).
