Slurp, slurp, sluuurrrrrp! Don't you love Dr. Pepper? It's soooooo delicious. But when you drink it do you ever wonder about the genius who invented it?

Well, it all began a long time ago. There was a young  man working as a soda jerk (the guy who mixes and serves you soda) in 1880. The local pharmacist's daughter and the soda jerk fell in love and wanted to be married.

The pharmacist, however, did not want his little girl to get married to the guy who sold him soda! So he sent the young man off, and told him never to come back.

Heart-broken with no job, he went west, and landed himself right in Waco, Texas. In Waco, he got himself a job at a local soda fountain, of course!

After a while in Waco, he was a well known man for his unhappy romance, and his 100% original soft drinks.

As a joke, the soda jerk's friends named his best drink after the unruly pharmacist back in Virginia. Yep, that mean old man was THE Dr. Pepper!!
