One of the most common birds in the rainforest are called macaws.  Macaws only live in the Amazon rainforest. They may become extinct if they lose their homes due to the destruction of the rainforest. That would be really sad!

Another bird that lives in the rainforest is called the blue bird.  This bird is pretty common in the rainforest.  The male has a black velvety chest and long, lacy flank plumes.  The male hangs upside down on a tree branch.  While he is in this position, he does a greeting call and the female makes a nest.

Many of the rainforests have flowers and the color of those flowers are very bright.  The bright color attracts most of the birds in the rainforest.  The birds come to the flowers and they drink the nectar in the center.

You can see many different kinds of species on one side of a rainforest tree.  Who knows!  There could be blue birds on one side of a rainforest tree and a macaw on the other.
