HOW ABOUT NOW?

How do we decorate and beautify our bodies today?

FEET

Even today, women do harmful things to their bodies by wearing high heels.  This position curves the spine unnaturally, causing leg, hip and back problems.
Normal spine Stressed spine
The higher the heel, the more fashionable the pain!
They also pinch their feet into shoes too small, or with pointed toes that cause corns, bunions, and blisters!  All for the sake of beauty?

Skin

People still have a fascination for adorning the skin.  They tattoo it, paint it, pierce it, stretch it, tan it, and baby it.  When you think about it, it's a pretty important organ (the biggest in your body.)

Even though it sheds completely every month or so, what you do to your skin may last forever! If you damage it with sunlight or poking holes in it too much, you live with what you get. You also die with it!

People are getting plastic surgery more often now, changing the way their bodies look.  After all, all we see of each other is the skin!Is beauty only skin deep?

HAIR

Hair is that stuff we take so much time to fix every morning, that we spend so much money on, that we want to look "alive" and healthy.  Actually, hair is a bunch of dead cells pushed out by your scalp because they're worn out! People dye it, style it, clip it, curl it, straighten it, and hold it into place with gel and spray.  Think of what you spend in a year on your hair!  You could probably buy a closet full of clothes for that much! Enjoy it while you can, it has a tendency to fall out as you get older!

FINGERNAILS

Fingernails are another of those body parts we think of as alive!  But, they're made of dead cells, too!  For hundreds of years, fingernails were not for decoration, but for hard work!  In the past hundred years, fingernails have become something else to take care of!  We paint them, file them, give them vitamins and lotions, and put false ones on to hide our short ones!  In some countries, it was the men who grew the long nails!  The world's record for long fingernails is held by Shridhar Chillal of India.  His thumb nail is 4'8"! That is taller than I am! The other nails measure 3' to 4'!

When fingernails grow out, they curl and twist! It would be hard to do much gardening this way!
