KING COBRA

The King Cobra is the largest venomous snake. They live in warm climates such as. India, China and also southeast Asia. Tons of people die each year from the bite of the King Cobra.

The King Cobra can grow up to twelve feet long, but some have been known to grow up to eighteen feet long. They are a greyish color with black stripes on them. Their heads are as big as a mans hand and, their eyes are a bronze color. Their scaly skin shines, but is dry to the touch. The King Cobra smells by using its tongue. The cobra can't hear sounds but it can feel vibrations (like footsteps). King Cobras fangs can grow up to 1/2 inch long.

The King Cobra is a carnivore which means it eats meats. Some of the things they eat are rats, mice, and frogs. The King Cobra likes all snakes, swallow their prey whole. After swallowing their prey they can go for months without any food.

Female King Cobras build a nest early in the spring. They lay up to 20 to 50 white eggs. It takes about 60 to 70 days to hatch. Nesting females may be very dangerous.

The King Cobra can slither on land, and swim on water. It has a life spand of about 20 years.
