Tampa Bay Devil Rays

Along with the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays entered the MLB in 1998. Tampa respectfully finished in the basement of the MLB with a very unsatisfactory record. Even with the armed forces of Greg Vaughn and Jose Canseco the Devil Rays could do nothing. Whoever thought things couldn't get worse was wrong. Runs weren't produced and pitchers couldn't win games. Roberto Hernandez was one of the little bright spots on the hill for Tampa Bay. Like usual the Devil Rays had a very unacceptable record and failed to move out of last place in the A.L. East.

Season 2000 was filled with tragic events. They no longer had Greg Vaughn who was traded in 1999 and later in the season Jose Canseco became a Yankee. Even though Vinny Castilla was the team's new third baseman, it seemed like nothing, and the Devil Rays again finished at the bottom of the American League. Hopefully the Devil Rays will improve in the future, but I'm afraid it will be a long time before they win a World Series ring.
