Leaf axil habitats are formed when water fills up in the axil of leaves. Leaf axils are the part of a leaf that is deep and can hold water. Leaf axils are found all over the world in many different habitats. Axil habitats are small and hold a simple aquatic community. Leaf axils can hold up to 1.5 centimeters to 166.9 centimeters of water (Kitching pages 39-42).
