Filter Feeders

These animals eat live or dead stuff within the water columns of aquatic ecosystems. There are so many animals that live on decomposing matter.
These are called filter-feeding organisms and their favorite cuisine is detritus. Detritus is full of nutrients which help keep the ecosystem in balance.

Copepods are small crustaceans which are found in all container habitats. Some are predators, and others are called biocontrol agents, which means they help keep mosquitoes under control. But most copepods are filter feeder The most common of the filter feeders are mosquitoes.
