Thank You Letters Written to Mrs. Reeder

Amber's

Dear Mrs. Reeder,
I just wanted to say thank you for the presentations and the books you provided for the school.

I enjoyed your reading and sharing bits and pieces of your books. I have read two of your books, Grandpa’s Mountain and I am now reading Moonshiner’s Son. I enjoyed Grandpa’s Mountain and can’t wait to finish Moonshiner’s Son and am sadly waiting for my mom to get to the book store and purchase more of your books. Thank you for your time and effort.

All of the kids obviously loved the information from the interview but I personally want to thank you. I would like to thank you for the pictures, books, details, and last but not least I would like to thank you for visiting our school.

Sincerely, Amber Owen

Dear Mrs. Reeder,

Thank you for coming to our school. That was the best day I had ever had (not including Field Day.) I would much rather do this every day than being in class. I wish you could come every day.

I loved all of the presentations that you did. I enjoyed the 4th grade presentation because it was interesting as all of them were. The 3rd grade presentation I think was best because it had an overview of all of your books and that was inspiring.

The interview made me curious because of those pictures in your book, especially the WW2 one. The paper that showed the start of the war, JAPANESE BOMBS PEARL HARBOR, caught my attention. My grandpa fought in WW2, so that's why I'm intrigued by that topic.

Thank you for your time, effort, and information.

From your listener, Leah Garofalo

Dear Mrs. Reeder,

Thank you for coming to Red Hill and giving the three presentations. That was one of the best days I've had this year. I enjoyed you coming, and I enjoyed staying with you all day.

The interview was very nice, and I loved being one of your personal body guards!! The Civil War bullets were really cool, and I liked looking at the things that you brought that go along with each of your books.

It was fun to listen to the ³history² of the books that you've written. That book, Captain Kate was an awesome thing to learn about because I've never seen a barge. I thought the book Moonshiner's Son was very sad, moving and totally GREAT!

Thank you for answering our questions the best you could. Thank you again for your time.

Sincerely, Monika .F

Dear Mrs. Carolyn Reeder,

Thank you for coming to visit Red Hill. I had a blast, and so did all the other ThinkQuest kids. It was really neat to be able to see a famous author and go to three of her presentations. Hearing a little something about each book was neat, too.

Our private interview time after school was great. Oh, thank you so much for autographing the 5th graders books! I started reading Moonshiners Son and it is a very good book. Not very many people write about mountain people, let alone Moonshiners.

I hope that you enjoyed coming to our school as much as we enjoyed having you. The school now owns three books that will help us with our Eminent Domain study, thanks to the books you gave us. Thank you again, and I'll keep reading your excellent books!

Yours truly, Sarah Culver

Dear Carolyn Reeder,

Thank you for your time and effort. This experience will stay with me for a veeerrrry long time. I really enjoyed you coming and telling us about your books. It has helped me to comprehend all of your books that I have read in my short six years of knowing how to read.

I thought the third grade presentation was the best. That is so because I liked the fact that you were talking about all of your books. The fourth grade presentation was cool because I like Grandpa's Mountain a whole lot. Last but not least, the fifth grade was a really awesome presentation because of the fact that there was a little part of all of your books even though it was about the Civil War.

I loved it when you read little snippets of Moonshiners Son. It is my favorite one of your books. I am very grateful for your signature on Moonshiners Son. Thank you so much for that whole day, I had a blast.

Sincerely, Travis Gies

Dear Mrs. Reeder,

Thank you so much for visiting our school and making your presentations. They were terrific, in giving me lots of information about you and your books. I especially liked our after-school question-and-answer session. I learned enough in it to write the entire ³Author² section of our web site.

I look forward to reading Moonshiner's Son . From what I've read so far, it looks like a good one! Also, whenever meeting authors comes up in the conversation, I will be able to relate an author's actual views on something. Then I will also be able to use the information you gave us when talking about the Shenandoah National Park.

I am extremely happy that you came to Red Hill. I feel that the Grandpa's Mountain section of our web site will be excellent, thanks to you. You have given us some great information!

Sincerely, ______________________
