The I&M Canal made great things happen to Chicago and the Midwest. It brought people and prosperity to the Bridgeport area of Chicago.

It helped establish and revolutionize the transportation system of Illinois and created a passageway for goods and people traveling through the United States. Illinois is still a leader in transportation for people and goods today, but not many people realize that it all started with the I&M Canal.
