Peace

Hiroshima is a city on which an atomic bomb was dropped.
Hiroshima is a city with many memorials for the lives lost.
Hiroshima is a city which continually seeks peace.
Everyone, look at Hiroshima's path over the last century.
Distant memories, bitter remorse and alarm at an age past.
Everyone, please, look at what the atomic bomb brought.
Suffering pain, anger, and apprehension toward an uncertain future.....
Hiroshima in this nuclear age, will continue holding high the flame of hope.

-Author Unknown

BOOM! Light everywhere! That is how it was on August 6, 1945, at 8:15 am in Hiroshima.

That was then.

This is now.

After realizing how terrible that gorgeous-turned-ugly morning was, Japan wants all the countries that have ever been bombed by an atomic bomb to push for peace. They want the countries that have been bombed by an atomic bomb to proclaim peace. They don’t want atomic bombs, and are sure other countries don’t want them either.

The problem is, they are the only country that have ever been bombed by an atomic bomb. They are taking it upon themselves to stop atomic bombs, with ceremonies, buildings, memorials, and special ways for the younger children to get involved in the push for peace.

On the next couple of pages, you’ll find information about peace and the buildings and memorials. These pages can be viewed in any order. We will provide arrows that you can use if you please.

We have also found some poems that meant a lot to us. One is called "We Shall Bring Forth New Life". Please follow the link to read it.
