Hiroshima No Pika was a book about a bomb survivor as a little girl. The story begins on August 6,1945. Mii was eating breakfast when suddenly a flash came out of nowhere. Moments earlier the Enola Gay had dropped Little Boy, the first Atomic bomb used in warfare. Mii was knocked out by the force of the bomb and the boards that had fallen on top of her. Her father was caught in the fire. Then her mother heroically jumped into the fire and dragged Mii’s father out of the fire. Once her father was safe they began to run to the river. Many others were in the river too. Finally they reached the beach of Hiroshima.  There they had planned to take a boat across to Miyajima. Thinking safety was not far they fell asleep. Four days later they woke up and Mii still had her chopsticks held in her hand.

Hiroshima No Pika was a good book. Though it was also a sad book. It was based on "trying to tell young people about something very bad that happened." There were many deaths caused by the Atomic bomb. Many others died from injury or the radiation that came from it. Many died trying to escape to safety. This book was not just one story. Though it was based on one story others were woven into it. This also made it a really good book because it showed many different stories.
