Comets, meteors, and asteroids, also known as space travelers, are another
part of our solar system. Asteroids are made of large pieces of rock, or rock and
metal. There are many asteroids through out our solar system. Although there
are many asteroids they are all grouped into three main groups, cartonaceous,
silicaceous, and metallic asteroids. Each group of asteroids are completely
different. Comets and meteors are very small compared to the rest of our solar
system. Comets are chunks of ice mixed with dust and grit. Comets spend most
of their time away from the sun. Meteoroids are far smaller than comets.
Meteoroids may be dust, chunks of rock from comets or even fragments of
shattered asteroids. Meteoroids are also known as shooting stars.
