As soon as a guest walked through the front doors of the house they stepped into the atrium.The atriums were huge, sometimes being forty by fifty feet and twenty-eight feet high.The atrium was usually used to show off the owner's wealth.The family's treasure chest was sometimes displayed in the atrium along with very expensive murals. Rain water would come in through the roof of the atrium and was stored under the house for their water supply.
