Everest AMBITION!
I know what you are asking. "Why would anyone climb the biggest mountain in the world?" Well, George Mallory answered that question right before he climbed for the first time. "Because it's there," he told reporters. That is exactly why most climbers risk their lives. All because it is there.
Is mountain climbing even considered a sport? It most definitely is. It is more like a challenging stunt, much like skate boarding. You do it because it is a challenge. Even stranger, you have to pay to climb Everest. Other sports you get paid to do, but only Sherpas and Guides get paid to climb Mount Everest, but not nearly as much as it costs to climb it. The costs of climbing range from $30,000-$80,000. It mainly depends on which side you start on. The side that is cheaper is the Tibetan side. The Guides and Sherpas make about $1200 per expedition. That is only a small fraction of how much is costs to climb the mountain.
