PURRRFECT pets! |
You're probably looking at this site because you're interested in finding
the cat that's best for you. Before you read on you need to see the
responsibility of having a cat.
Things to consider include: responsibilities,
if
you spay or neuter, declawing,
food
and
prices.
CARE
Brush your cat often. This will keep him or her from getting hairballs and will keep hair off your furniture and clothing. It also helps you know if your cat has fleas or some type of skin irritation. Bathe your cat with the proper shampoo made just for cats. Never use dog shampoo because it could kill the cat. Cat's respiratory systems are delicate. Also people shampoo doesn't have the right pH for cats, they need a neutral pH. Regular bathing of your cat could keep you from having allergy symptoms. An inside cat that has not been declawed needs to have it's nails clipped regularly. When clipping only clip the white part, if you go too far you will hit the quick. That is the part where the vein runs through the nail. It is also suggested to brush your cat's teeth. Use cat toothpaste only.
Spaying and neutering to some people is cruel, but to others it's saving money instead of spending it on kittens. It also will keep a male cat from spraying. In case you didn't know what spay or neuter is it's when the vet does surgery on the cat and makes the cat not able to have babies. If the cat is pregnant when this surgery is performed the kittens will die. From my own personal experience ( meaning it might but probably won't happen to yours) but my cat had kittens we "fixed" her and she got temperamental. So, watch out! Some say it is cruel because you're taking the rights of the cat away.
Most people do declaw their cats to prevent scratching and ripping of furniture or humans. Others think that its cruel. Declawing IS kind of cruel in some ways people wouldn't think about. Such as it is almost as if you would remove the owner's fingernails. Cats use their paw nails to scratch dead skin out of their fur, groom themselves, and to scratch an itch. Anyone who that has had an itch that couldn't be scratched would probable sympathize with a declawed cat who has an itch.
Cat's are carnivorous. Their teeth, digestive system, and digestive process are made for meat. Cats need arginine and amino acid. Both come from meat. Without enough arginine a cat will accumulate ammonia in it's bloodstream. This condition can kill a cat. Be careful about giving your cat too much milk. An adult cat can not digest it properly and will get diarrhea. Table scraps are okay to feed your cat, but don't give them very much.
