Fennec Fox

 

This is the Fennec Fox also known as the Vulpes zerda by scientists.

Habitat

The Fennec Fox is nocturnal due to the fact that it is so hot during the day in the desert. This tiny fox spends it's days sheltered in multi-chambered burrows it has dug in the sand. The Fennec Fox lives in groups up to 10.
 

Appearance

The Fennec Fox has a soft, pale beige coat. This coat helps it camouflage in the desert sand. The fennec's huge, trangle-shaped ears help the fox keep cool and add a good sense of hearing. The big ears are lined with white hair. This tiny fox also has white spots on other areas of its body including the face and the tail.

Creature Features

The Fennec is 42-72cm in length and weighs between 0.8 and 1.5 kilograms--smaller than the average house cat. This fox lives up to 13 years.
The Fennec Fox has everlasting love, the Fennec Fox mates for life.

Food

The Fennec Fox eats rodents, birds, insects, and lizards. It also has a tendency to eat roots and other vegetation. Due to the fact of living in the desert the Fennec has adapted to going without water for long perods of time. To catch its prey it jumps as high as a meter in the air and dives down at its prey with its claws out.

Enemies

The Fennec's worse enemy is diseases and pesticides other than that the Fennec also has to watch out for desert-dwelling carnivors.
