Baldwin House on Maui was the home of Dwight Baldwin, a doctor back in Hawaii's missionary years. When his patients didn't have enough money, he wouldn't make a big fuss about it. They would just pay him back with something that they did have, like if one of his patients was a farmer, the farmer may have given him vegetables, fruits, or animals as payment.
In seeing how humble Dwight Baldwin was, we learned ways we can show the value of being humble ourselves. One way would be not bragging or being boastful about things we do have.
If you are successful in sports, school, or something else, don't brag about your accomplishments to others. Others may feel put down by your remarks and you may lose friends that way. Instead, encourage others to do better or better yet, help someone to improve.
If you're ever on the island of Maui for a vacation or a break, stop off at the Baldwin House in old Lahaina town to see it for yourself!
