The fishpond restoration project on the island of Molokai is probably one of the best examples showing cooperation because it takes a lot of people to build a fishpond. People have to be willing to cooperate, and if they didn't then the fishpond wouldn't be completed, or they would take a long time to finish.
Loko 'Ia, a fishpond restoration group, works together to restore the fishponds on Molokai. It has been a community effort. Led by Mr. Walter Ritte, residents help to restore the ancient fishponds once used by Hawaiians of old.
From this fishpond restoration project, I have learned that with cooperation, you can accomplish many things. With the Loko 'Ia project, they have been productive due to the teamwork and effort put into this project.
If you can make it to Molokai, contact Loko 'Ia. Otherwise, be on the look out for community projects in your own hometown where you can get involved and make a difference in your community as well.
