Team Paradise

Hi my name is Carie Inouye and I attend Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School and I am in the sixth grade. I was in Think Quest last year and did 911 Safety Rage. I like to play sports such as basketball, soccer, volleyball, and many more. My favorite colors are orange, yellow, and blue. I like to go swimming, hang out with my friends, and do current events. I also love to make Flash files, after learning what kinds of things I can do. I love fruits, fast foods, and Nike accessories. I have two dogs named Fuzzy and Lucky. My family is unique in one way, all of our names are in alphabetical order. I am always doing something... either playing sports, Think Quest, or hanging out with my friends. My team nick-name is "Haupia" because I LOVE haupia.
Hi! My name is Daniel Victor. I am 10 years old and go to King Kaumuali’i Elementary School. I live with my parents, my brother Jeremy, and my sister Jamie. My hobbies are soccer and basketball.
I’m interested in computers because you can learn a lot. I like to use computers because when I need help, I can just go and look up information. One thing that I like to do is play games on the computer. I also like going on programs like Flash and just drawing.
Thinkquest has been hard but I learned a lot. I have learned how to use Flash, Adobe Photoshop, and Corel Draw. I have also learned a lot about Hawaii and how to make games like a slide puzzle.
My biggest job was making the slide puzzle. The steps to making the slide puzzle were hard. The first step was to copy one of the crossing pictures. Then you cut out 16 even pieces at Adobe Photoshop. The next step was to do the coding. Then you make 7 pages that say that the answer is wrong. After that, you make 1 page that says that you got the answer is right. That’s how hard making a slide puzzle was.
Hi my name is Cody Navarro. In my spare time I like to golf and go on the computer. My favorite program is Adobe Photoshop because it can do a lot of different things and I like the different lighting effects. On the computer I do a lot of word processing in Microsoft Word. I am 11 and in the 6th grade at Chiefess Kamkahelei Middle School on Kauai. I have two brothers that are both younger than me.
ThinkQuest has kept me out of trouble. ThinkQuest has also helped me learn the different programs and HTML coding. In ThinkQuest I learned to use Flash4, Photoshop 5.5, and higher HTML coding that I have never learned before like Java scripting.
My big job was to work with all the pictures our team took with the digital camera as we visited neighbor islands. First I needed to make a template and copy and paste it on the picture. Then using the magic wand, select the template then go to select inverse and cut out the picture. I then created a new file making the canvas 650 by 488 so I could paste the picture that was cut out on to the new file. Going into Layer, Effects, and to drop shadow, I then used the crop tool and cropped the picture and resized the picture to 250 by 188. For tall pictures I did the same steps until the resize, I resized tall pictures to 188 by 250.
Hi my name is Kelson Sumida. I am in the 6th grade and I attend Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School. I have 4 other people in my family. I am 11 years old and my birthday is May 2. I like to play games on the computers and I also like to ride my bike and scooter.
Think Quest helped me because I get into less trouble and it helps my grandma because she doesn’t have to pick me up after school. It also helped me because I got to use cool stuff like laptops and expensive software.
One hard job is recording the audio clips but here are the steps I did.
  1. Got word from other members
  2. Checked with our Kumu Pohaku for the correct Hawaiian word
  3. Recorded the word in Sonic Foundry Sound Forger
  4. Double-checked with coaches on how well it sounded
  5. Saved the files in .wav format
My name is Michelle Sone. I am 12 years old and in the sixth grade. I live in a family of 3. I attend Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School on the island of Kauai, in the state of Hawaii. In my spare time I like to hang out with my friends and go shopping or to the movies. I enjoy taking hikes and camping over at Kokee. I also enjoy going to the beach and swimming. I really like working on Flash 4 and Flash 5. Technology has really given me new opportunities to advance. The ThinkQuest program has given me a chance to work with technology.
My name is Miki Ueoka. I am a 6th grader at Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School. I enjoy golf and working with Flash files. I was really excited this year because I got to work with two wonderful coaches and had a really fun year, like totally!
