You have learned in this web page that you should eat a balanced diet. Which means you should eat a variety of foods. This will give you all the nutrients your body needs. You should eat a balanced diet of each of the five food groups. You can also eat fats, oils, and sweets sparingly. If you eat the right amount your body will get the right nutrients. Then you will grow up strong and healthy.

Food Groups

Breads group: Foods in this group provide vitamins B1, B2, protein, niacin, and iron.
( You should have 6-11 servings)

 

 

Vegetable group: These provide vitamins A and iron. Sometimes they contain vitamin B1, B2, calcium, folic acid, iron, and other nutrients.
( You should have 3-5 servings)

 

 

Fruits group:This group provides vitamins C, B1, B2, iron, calcium folic acid, and other nutrients.
( You should have 2-4 servings)

 

 

 

Meat group: The meat group provides vitamins B1, B2, B12, protein, fat, iron, niacin, and phosphorus.
( You should have 2-3 servings)

 

 

 

Dairy group: Dairy products give you vitamins, B2, A, protein, calcium, phosphorus, and other nutrients.
( You should have 2-3 Servings)

 

 

You should have the recommended amount of each group every day. (These are listed above) This will keep you healthy with a balanced diet.
