Bats

Introduction
There are at least 1,700 kinds of bats. Bats have a very sharp sense of smell and some have excellent eyesight.  Bats have been given a creepy or bad reputation that they really don't deserve.  Scientists and Naturalists who understand  how important and helpful bats are to people really are working to protect them and the caves and other places they live.
Fruit eating bats are important to people because the fruit seeds that pass through their body as droppings end up scattering seeds of many plants that are useful.  The bats also serve to pollinate flowers of the plants they visit.  Some of these plants that are pollinated are fruits that we eat, like bananas, peaches and figs, so they play an important part in our lives.  Bats that eat insects are very  important in controlling the insect population.  Every year farmers in Texas and other areas save thousands of dollars on pesticide costs because bats do such a good job eating insects that can damage crops.

Vampire Bats

Vampire bats feed on the blood of stock animals and other warm-blooded animals.  They bite and then suck at the animal's blood.  Their teeth are razor sharp and can easily cut at something as tough as a cattle's hide.  These bats are small, about 3 to 4 inches long, and belong to a group of  bats in the "blood sucking" bat family.
These bats are found in tropical and Central America.  They have gotten a "bloodthirsty" reputation for their eating habits which includes sometimes attacking people who are sleeping!  Their bite is harmless, and can heal but they are very dangerous if the bat is carrying rabies.  This disease is deadly to people and animals if not treated with medicine.

Black Cats

Some people say that black cats cause bad luck. I'm going to tell you about the black cats bad luck.  They love to chew on anything with there razor sharp teeth. Because of that people think they're dangerous. Other people say if you pass a black cat at night on Halloween you will have bad luck for that year or for your entire life (which means as long as you live).  Because of this, people get confused, but you can decide which to believe because everyone thinks differently.
But please keep it to yourself.

Spiders

Spiders are considered a Halloween creature. There are many different reasons  and this is one of them.
Well, spiders just make Halloween creepier. Fake spiders  are often used as decorations in houses or hung  outside the door . They have a scary look . Many people are scared of spiders. There are some spiders that can harm people with their venom from their bites. Hobos, and black widow spiders can be very dangerous.
But it is a spiderâs nature to sometimes be dangerous, ugly, and frightening.

An African  legend says that a long time ago, all the creatures on the earth were all male, and they needed wives . But all of the females were goddesses and were all in  heaven. The only creature that could help them was the spider. He spun a web ladder that reached heaven. So all the animals climbed the web. When they reached heaven, they all found a mate. But when it was time to go down to earth a hare stayed and stole some food. The theft was soon discovered. But all of the animals blamed the spider. The spider said nothing to defend himself. He was too hurt inside to speak.
A lot of other stories tell how spiders are mistreated, donât  do the same.  They are an important part of our animal world and do a great job of keeping insects from being too numerous.  Think of how many flies and mosquitoes they catch each summer!
There are many different spiders with many different colors, sizes, and looks. Most spiders have eight eyes, a head, thorax, abdomen and eight legs.
Halloween is a great time of year to appreciate these amazing creepy crawlies!

Wolves

The wolf is one of the most misunderstood and hated animals. Legends and stories have grown from this misunderstanding. One legend about a half-wolf-half-man sprang up because wolves were hated and mistrusted. It makes a good tale, but it is not true.
Wolves are very social animals. They live in packs and have a very well defined set of social rules. They know who is the leader and who are the followers.

If you see a wolf, you are really very lucky. They avoid humans most of the time.

Characteristics of the wolf:

Wolves vary in size depending on their geographic location. The gray wolf (also known as the timber wolf) can grow to about 5 to 6.5 feet from the tip of the nose to the tip of the tail and they can weigh up to 40 to 175 pounds.

Habitats and range:

The wolf can live in many different kinds of habitats, ranging from arctic tundra to forests and prairie. They are less likely to be seen in the highest mountains or desserts.
