"Yeah, Go Team"! During the seventies many famous athletes were made known. Here is  the most famous athlete of all!!!

One of the most famous athletes in the seventies was Pete Rose. Pete Rose was an amazing baseball player. He played as a third baseman. If you travel to Cincinnati, Ohio there is even a street named after him! Pete Rose was born in Cincinnati and and loved the sport of baseball!  Until he was eight years old, his father directed him in sports. When he became eight, he was drafted into a organized league. By the time he was ten, Pete was a switch hitter (he could hit with his left and right hand). Pete played second base at Western Hills High School. When he turned 18, Pete was drafted to the National League, Cincinnati Reds.
Pete played at first base, second base, third base, and outfield. Pete led the way in fielding through the years 1970, 1974, 1976, 1980. In 1979, Pete went to play for the Philadelphia Phillies. By 1984, Pete was at bat more than 600 times. After his amazing season, he was released by the Phillies. In 1984,  he played for the Montreal Expos, but he made his fame back as a Cincinnati Red when he broke Ty Cobb's record of 4,256 hits.  Pete's lifetime batting average was .303.
In 1989, Rose came under investigation by professional baseball's commissioner because of reports that he had bet repeatedly on major league baseball teams, including his own Cincinnati Reds in the mid-1980s.
On August 24, 1989, Rose was banned from major league baseball forever.  Rose being banned still brings up contrevecy today. It is still a popular topic on the radio talk shows in Cincinnati. Nobody will ever forget how great of a baseball player Pete Rose was.
