The
40's were a time of little luxury. People helped the war effort every way
they could and rarely had the time or money to see movies or enjoy other
costly events. When people did see a movie, Germans and Japanese were usually
stereotyped as either stupid or evil. Nevertheless, some of the best movies
appeared in theaters in the 40's. Casablanca is one example. It is still
rated as one of the best movies ever, by experts and critics even after
sixty some odd years. Inventions in the 1940s were scarce but one changed
our lives forever. Go ahead, take a guess........ Suprisingly it was a
COMPUTER! It was not on the market intil the 1950's, but the military used
it in World War II.
On the sports scene, Ted Willams was a huge baseball star that had a few
record breaking years with the Boston Redsoxs.Jackie Robinson also broke
