30's Entertainment
1930-1939
 
  Entertainment of the 1930's, is still impacting entertainment today.  In 1939 "Gone With the Wind" was a big hit!  "Gone With the Wind," is a story about two people in love that are separated by the war. The storyline expresses how the woman survives without her husband during the war.  The movie won many awards and was voted the "Best Movie" of this decade.
 
     Also, a successful television show was Frankenstein.  Frankenstein was a series of movies which were science fiction.  The plot was about a  scientist who created a monster and the monster traveled around (when he got angry) destroying things.
 
     The full length movie, Snow White, was also a major hit in the thirties.  Snow White was about a princess that ran away from her step-mother  to visit the Seven Dwarfs. Her dwarf friends took her in and helped her survive.  In return, she cleaned, and cooked for them.  All the characters became very good friends.
     The Tarzan series also came out on television.   Tarzan was a character who had lived in the jungle his entire life.  His behaviors were less than "normal" human behaviors.  He later met Jane, who was a human lady. The two teach other many things about their lives and become life-long friends.
 
    The Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder came out and millions loved it!  Little House on the Prairie was a story about a family who experienced life's hardships through the pioneer days. They experienced many adventures in nature before modern technology came along.
    The motion picture King Kong came out. King Kong is a very large gorilla who attacks a city.  King Kong came out in 1933.  Many people enjoyed this thriller.
 
Also in the thirties the Superman Comics came out.  Superman was a super hero that was also a regular person.  He was a hero that went around saving people from harm.
    The hit game Monopoly came out and is still being played today.  Monopoly is a game where you travel around a board trying to collect the most money and property.  
    These different movies, books, and games are still popular in the millenium.
