Some of the world's greatest ukuleles are made by Kamaka Hawaii, Inc., in Honolulu on the island of Oahu. The company was established in 1916 by Sam Kamaka and continues on through Sam's sons, Sam, Jr. and Fred and grandsons, Chris and Fred, Jr. Kamaka Hawaii makes about 3000 koa ukulele every year.
Since 1833 continuous generations of the C.F. Martin family have been making its world-renowned ukulele is especially in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. Specializing in guitars, C.F. Martin got into the swing of the ukulele boom of the 1920's and made some of the finest ever produced. The ukulele from this era are valued collector's items today.
