Oxygen is one of two things that is released from the plant during photosynthesis. The other is sugar. The plants release the oxygen into the air. When we inhale (breath in,) we are taking in oxygen. When we exhale (breath out,) we are letting out carbon dioxide which the plant uses to make more oxygen.
