We interviewed master gardener Jerry Sliwa at Mounts Botanical Garden in West Palm Beach.  These are some of the helpful hints he gave about gardening.   

  Q. What are the easiest plants to grow?

 A. I think that wildflowers are the easiest plants to grow. 

 

 Q. What are the hardest plants to grow?

 A. I think that bougainvilleas are the hardest plant to grow. 

 

 Q. What is the best place to plant flowers outside?

A. Put outdoor plants in a place where they will get the most sunshine.

 

Q. What is the best place to put flowers inside the house?

A.  Put  flowers on a windowsill that's on the West side of the house.  Make sure that nothing blocks the sunshine coming through the window.

 

Q. Why do you enjoy gardening?

A. I enjoy gardening because it is interesting.

 

Q. How can you tell harmful bugs from helpful ones?  

A. If there are holes in the leaves or flowers of a plant, the bugs on the plant are harmful.
