When you breathe, you breathe in oxygen that was produced from plants.  You breathe out carbon dioxide which the plant uses in the process of photosynthesis.  During photosynthesis, carbon dioxide seeps in through tiny holes in the plant's leaves.  The plant uses carbon dioxide in photosynthesis.
