

In 1758, Kamehameha the first was born at Kohala located on the northern side of The Big Island (Hawaii). His father was the Kalanikupuakeoua (Keoua) and his mother,Kekuiapoiwa, was the high-born princess. It was believed that he was kidnapped and was taken into custody by a Kohala chief known as Naole. While staying with him for five years, Kamehameha aquiredthe training which was usually given to high-ranking warriors.
Kamehameha was and still is known for his heroic accomplishments and bravery. He was the first King to unite all eight Hawaiian Islands under one kingdom, and is therefore the most well known and popular ruler of Hawaii.
