The View From Saturday
By:E.L. Konigsburg

Mrs. Olinski has picked a good team to represent the sixth grade in the regional "brain championship".  Her team consists of four students that go by the names Ethan, Nadia, Julian, and Noah.  Together these very smart and talented kids like to call themselves "The Souls."  Each have a remarkable story.  Noah tells about when he got to be best man at his grandparents' friends' wedding. Nadia tells how she met Ethan (her step grandma's grandson) while saving baby turtles. Ethan told of how he met Julian and the odd way Julian invited Ethan to a tea party.  Julian tells how he saved Ginger (Nadia's dog), Arnold ( an enemy's dog), and the school play.  Near the end and between the four stories, the regionals "heat up!"  Can these intelligent 6th graders gain victory over intelligent 8th graders?

Noah is a sixth grade boy who accidentally gets to be best man at Izzy Diamondstein's wedding.
Nadia is a sixth grade girl who has red hair, a genius for a dog, and a fondness for baby turtles.
Ethan is a silent sixth grade boy who is the silent second son of one of Epiphany's oldest families.
Julian is a strange sixth grade boy who starts the souls by inviting Noah, Nadia, and Ethan to tea.
