Jason Hawthorn has been making his way across the country for almost a year.  Just moments after hearing the thrilling news about how gold was discovered in Alaska,  he jumps a train for Seattle.  When Jason arrives in Seattle he realizes that his brothers have already left to look for gold and they have taken $500 of Jason's money.

Jason sets out to find his brothers and gold, with nothing but a pack sack and $10 in his pocket.  With a near five-hundreed-mile trip down the Yukon River lay ahead.  Jason gets help from a writer named jack London.  Jason and his dog must survive moose, bears, and terrors.  Can Jason make it to the gold fields and find his brothers before winter?
