Yeast                                                    Yeast Cells

Yeast cells are a type of single celled fungi. You can find yeast cells in dirt, soil, and plant composites. Yeast is the main ingredient in bakery products. it is what makes bread rise! Bread rises when the yeast feeds off the sugar and water in dough. As it feeds off these things it multiplies and as it is baking the yeast dissolves making a gas called carbon dioxide or also called Co2. When this gas rises it is rising in the dough product; therefore, making it rise! This is how baking occurs! Without yeast we would have no raised bread it would all be flat! Is yeast not important?!!
