World War II

America bombed Peal Harbor. Thousands of servicemen entered WW II. They were pilots, soldiers, doctors, cooks and mechanics.  A lot of women entered WW II.  After the war started women went to work in factories. Almost every family in the US
had a relative in the war. The families were very proud of them.  If someone in your family was in the war, you had a blue star in your window and a gold star if someone in your family died.
Americans gave up a lot of things for the war. Factories made airplanes and tanks instead of cars; uniforms and tents instead of dresses; and or boots instead of shoes.  Cars were driven less so gasoline could be used in the war. Everyone did volunteer work.  World War  II ended in 1945.  More people died in WW II than any other war. The first atomic bomb was dropped in WW II.
