Weapons and Artillery
Musket The musket was the most commonly used in the war. The 50 Caliber manyard musket was very popular, because it was more accurate in shooting. The union use this weapon during 1864-1865. The confidante used an earlier version of the Caliber throughout the war. Saber
and Swords The only people who were assigned this type of weapon were cavalrymen, sergeants and some of the artillerymen and musicians. The swords where mainly used to show the class of rank. Sabers where carried by the artillerymen and those where mainly used as a weapon. The 1840 Light Artillery Saber was commonly used by the confederate and union troops. The staff and field officers.
Field Artillery The Civil war artillery was comprised of cannons ranging in sizes from the model-1841 6-pound gun to the 14 pound James rifle. They needed around 6 people to get the cannon ready to fire. They showed teamwork well. The men would learn how to get the cannon ready in 6 seconds.
