Virginia

On June 25, 1788, Virginia became the tenth state of America. Virginia's capital is Richmond.
The three ships on the back of the Virginia state quarter are Susan Constant, Godspeed, and Discovery. The ships are carrying English settlers to Jamestown. On the bottom of the quarter 1607-2007 is engraved, because Jamestown will be 400 years old in the year 2007. The citizens of Virginia were encouraged to share their ideas of what they thought the Virginia state quarter should look like. Their ideas were sent to the governor of Virginia. Then, he sent his favorites to the Secretary of the Treasury. The Secretary picked the winner.
The Virginia state quarter came out in the year 2000.
