New Jersey

New Jersey became the third state when it was founded in 1787 by our forefathers. The states capital is Trenton.

The symbol on the quarter is George Washington crossing the Delaware River in 1776 during the Revolutionary War. The people of New Jersey choose the symbol because the Revolutionary War had a great impact on the United States of America. It shows George Washington leading his troops across the Delaware River to New Jersey.

The New Jersey quarter came out May 17,1999.
